After “Scream 7” Fires. Melissa Barrera Says, “I Condemn Anti-Semitism And Islamophobia,”
Melissa Barrera, who was let go from Scream VII, is speaking out.
“I detest Islamophobia and Anti-Semitism beyond everything else. A statement released by Barrera on Instagram Stories said, “I denounce hate and prejudice of any kind against any group of people.”
Following her removal from the horror franchise by Spyglass Media because to her social media posts regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict, Barrera made this post.
“I have tried to use it to raise awareness about issues I care about and to lend my voice to those in need because I feel it is my responsibility as a Latina, a proud Mexicana, to have a platform that allows me the privilege of being heard,” Barrera said in her statement. “Everyone on this planet is entitled to equal human rights, dignity, and, of course, freedom, regardless of their religion, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic standing.
She went added, “I think no governing body should be above criticism, and that a group of people is NOT their leadership.” Day and night, I pray for a peaceful coexistence, an end to violence, and no more deaths. I’ll keep speaking up for those who are most in need and fighting for freedom, human rights, and peace and safety.
Barrera said, “Silence is not an option for me,” as she concluded her remarks.
