Elijah Blue Allman’s son was denied temporary conservatorship by Cher. However, it’s Not Over
Following Cher’s video appearance at a morning hearing and the disclosure of fresh information by her attorney regarding the reasons behind her desire to take financial control of her adult son, Elijah Blue Allman, a Los Angeles judge refused Cher’s plea for a temporary conservatorship over him on Monday. Beyond Elijah’s acknowledged struggles with addiction, Cher’s attorney, Gabrielle Vidal, informed the court that “there is a secondary issue in that he suffers from schizoaffective disorder that leads to periods of psychosis.”
Elijah has been put on involuntary hospital holds “multiple times over the past calendar year,” according to Vidal, including in September of last year. According to the attorney, Elijah is no longer under the supervision of the medical professionals who were allegedly treating him for psychiatric problems, and Cher is afraid that “his life is at risk.
” Cher, according to her, is concerned that he won’t be able to handle the trust payment that his late father, artist Gregg Allman, would soon make to him. “We continue to feel a sense of urgency because he is surrounded by people who downplay the role of mental illness, and we are concerned that if he gets his hands on this distribution during a stressful time, it may trigger drug use.” According to Vidal, the reason this action was taken was because Cher’s doctors clearly informed her that if she didn’t act as his mother, there was a chance he might wind up on the streets once more.
