Harrison Ford is praised by Calista Flockhart as “such a good father to his kids now.”
After decades of experience, Calista Flockhart, Harrison Ford’s wife, believes he’s a really good dad despite what he’s stated. Speaking about their 23-year-old son Liam, Flockhart,59, told The New York Times in a profile that was released on Friday, January 26. “I think he was a really good father in a lot of ways.” “Perhaps because he was in Round 2 or Round 3, he had reached adulthood and, in my opinion, developed into a decent father. He’s such a wonderful dad to his children now. I adore my stepkids, his children.
Ford, 81, was going through a divorce at the time of their first meeting at the 2002 Golden Globes, and Flockhart had recently adopted Liam. Ford said of meeting Flockhart when she was a young mother, “Didn’t scare me off,” to the young York Times. Liam had just started to walk when we first met, but that didn’t really bother me. It didn’t really matter because I can’t count very well and I already had four kids. Ben, 56, and William, 54, are the actor’s sons with his ex-wife Mary Marquardt, whom he wed from 1964 to 1979. Georgia, who is 33 years old, and Malcolm, who is 36, are the children of Ford and the late Melissa Mathison, to whom he was married from 1983 to 2004. (In 2015, screenwriter Mathison passed away from neuroendocrine cancer. Her age was sixty-five.) 2010 saw the official adoption of Liam by him following his marriage to Flockhart.
Even while he enjoys humor, Ford acknowledged last year that he didn’t think he was the greatest father in the world during an uncommonly vulnerable period. In a May 2023 profile, he said to Esquire, “I can tell you this: If I’d been less successful, I’d probably be a better parent.” He continued by saying that since he had spent the majority of his life “out of town, up my own ass,” “the more constant gardener is the better parent.”
But Flockhart believes he’s a fantastic partner and father. After almost 14 years of marriage, she told the Times, “We’ve had to work.” Like everyone else, we’ve had ups and downs, but we’ve stayed together through it all. Mostly positive things, though.
