Ian Somerhalder, a former cast member of “The Vampire Diaries,” has left Hollywood behind after giving up acting
After formally leaving Hollywood and his acting career behind, Ian Somerhalder has no regrets.
I have a great deal of love for what I did. I enjoy making films, I just did it for so long. In a joint interview with wife Nikki Reed on Friday, January 12, Somerhalder, 45, said, “We had an amazing run.” However, this is only version 2.0; version 3.0 is in the horizon.
There are fans who might be surprised by this update on Somerhalder’s career. When talking about moving to a farm outside of Los Angeles with Reed, he had already alluded to his plan to give up acting. The couple, who had two children together, bragged about leaving their former property and moving into a new house with eighteen domestic and farm animals. “I enjoy taking walks on the farm with my family, dogs, and children,” Somerhalder said in an interview with E! from November 2023.
“As you travel through the farm, you’re pulling up out of the ground, feeding everyone, and coming off of trees or bushes at every stop.” The actor stated, “We’re farm people, we produce most of our own food, and I live in my cowboy boots,” at the time, adding that he embraced his new normal. Somerhalder gained to popularity playing Boone on Lost, but it was his performance as Damon Salvatore in The CW’s hit series The Vampire Diaries that made him a Hollywood star. With Netflix’s V Wars, Somerhalder embarked on a new vampire project following nearly ten years on the supernatural thriller.
