In a playoff promo, the Kansas City Chiefs allude to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s “love story.”
In their most recent postseason hype video, the Kansas City Chiefs are pushing Travis Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift while they aim to win the Super Bowl for the second time in a row.
A narrator over a clip of the Chiefs 2023 season highlights, “The regular season is over and we’ve had a great year / Happy post season, Chiefs kingdom, the playoffs are here / It might not be a holiday but we’ll treat it like like one / Three Super Bowls to our name and the fun’s just begun.”
The speaker then alludes to one of Swift’s greatest singles as Kelce, 34, makes an appearance on screen after scoring a touchdown and throws a football into the crowd. “The ‘love story’ we have makes Valentine’s Day jealous. Who could ever keep Trav and the end zone apart?” “Love Story,” from her 2008 follow-up album Fearless, received eight platinum certifications. Swift, 34, said to Time in 2009 that she was inspired by Romeo and Juliet and that song was the most romantic she had ever written. “It also is a good example of what a hopeless romantic I was and still am,” she stated in a press release after recording the song for Fearless (Taylor’s Version) in 2021.
Romeo and Juliet committed suicide in the Shakespearean tragedy because their families disapproved of their union. Swift replaced the melancholy in “Love Story” with happiness.
