‘Vanderpamp Rules’ Star Ariana Madix to play Roxy Hart in Broadway ‘Chicago’
The announcement of Madix’s casting coincides with his real life making news over the Scandoval reality TV scandal.
Ariana Madix, who starred in “Vanderpump Rules,” will play Roxie Hart on Broadway in “Chicago.”
She has been cast as the blonde virtuoso who is the talk of the town for a limited eight-week run at the Ambassador Theatre, which runs from January 29 to March 24.
Madix fills a position that was held by Ann Reinking and Gwen Verdon. Playing Roxie has never required musical theater skills; over the years, the Broadway production has tended to rely more on stunt casting, with Brooke Shields, Ashlee Simpson, Melanie Griffith, Erika Jayne, Pamela Anderson, and other “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” mainstays bringing the old razzle dazzle to the role.
The announcement of Madix’s casting coincides with his public persona amid the #Scandoval reality TV scandal. She discovered her longtime partner Tom Sandoval having an affair with Raquel Leviss, her “Vanderpump” co-star, at the beginning of March. Following that, Madix has become more comfortable on stage and has recently participated in “Dancing With the Stars.”
The 38-year-old Florida native claimed in an interview with Glamour magazine that she relocated to New York City after college in order to be on Broadway. She also received multiple brand endorsements, a Lifetime movie part, and an appearance as a guest on “Love Island.” She worked as a hostess and bartender for many years before to joining the cast of Bravo’s “Vanderpump Rules.”
