“What sort of riddle is it?”Things on “Wheel of Fortune” become “testy.”
One contestant’s early game issues led to an admittedly “testy” confrontation with presenter Pat Sajak during the bonus round, during an otherwise happy and festive week on Wheel of Fortune. The 41st season of the show is expected to be Sajak’s final, and throughout it, the host has experienced enough noteworthy events, both positive and negative, to create an entire highlight reel. And he definitely has to include that week’s back-and-forth with a competitor named Jill to the reel’s “Pat is getting salty” segment. This is how the event transpired.
The intensification
Before starting the last problem and when Jill just about made it to the bonus round, the 77-year-old Sajak narrated a “tale” that summed up her entire gaming experience. “You called a letter that had already been called early in the program, which is something that occasionally occurs here.
You were really depressed about that. You were concerned that you would simply ruin the show,” Sajak told Jill. Then there was a conundrum that you felt you ought to have answered but didn’t. She later accused me throughout the commercial. Naturally, the host also stated that everything was OK because she ended up winning a sizable sum of money—$27,680, to be exact—and a trip—to Barbados, in particular. Up until the last riddle, that is.
