When Ariana Grande looked back on the previous year, she said she felt “deeply misunderstood.”

In 2023, Ariana Grande finds herself reflecting on how drastically her life has changed. “One of the most difficult, transforming, joyful, and memorable years of my life.” ‘There were so many lovely yet polarizing feelings,’ the 30-year-old pop star stated on Friday, December 29 in a lengthy Instagram Story. “I have never felt more dependent on life and more accepting of the lessons it was trying to teach me.”

This year, Grande has experienced her fair share of highs and lows. Us Weekly revealed in July that she and Dalton Gomez had called it quits on their two-year marriage. After two months, Grande and 28-year-old Gomez filed for divorce in writing, citing February 20, 2023 as the separation date.

Grande moved on with her co-star Ethan Slater from Wicked shortly after word of her separation with Gomez surfaced. A few days later, Slater filed for divorce from Lilly Jay, his wife of 2018 with whom he had a child born in 2022. At the time, Jay criticized Grande harshly, telling Page Six, “[Ariana’s] the story, really.” Not a gal for girls. My family is merely incidental damage. “It’s the most pride, joy, and love I’ve ever felt, but at the same time, I feel like I’m being misinterpreted by strangers who piece together whispers to get what they want out of me and my life,” Grande said in a reflection on Friday. “I now realize that one of those things is far more important than the other.”
