Even though Bruce Willis has dementia, his family is “enjoying Every Moment” with him (exclusive)
The Willis family had a very emotional Thanksgiving this year. Over the holiday weekend, Bruce Willis’ daughter Scout posted a touching video on Instagram showing her and her famous father — who’s battling frontotemporal dementia, an untreatable brain disorder that impairs speech and motor skills — holding hands at a table, as well as a photo of her cradling his palm to her face.
Along with the older kids Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah, as well as Demi Moore, the actor’s ex-wife, Bruce’s wife Emma shared a vintage snapshot of the family on social media with the caption, “I’m grateful and thankful to know this kind of love.”
For Bruce’s family, it’s a time of bittersweet memories. The Die Hard actor, 68, has been fighting aphasia, a language illness that impairs a person’s ability to communicate, according to the family, who made the announcement in March 2022. Then, in February of this year, they disclosed that his illness had gotten worse and that he had been given an FTD diagnosis. While some medical sources place it as low as two years, the National Institutes of Health states that the average life expectancy for persons with the condition is only six to eight years.
Since then, Mabel, 11, Evelyn, 9, Emma, 45, Demi, 61, Rumer, 35, Scout, 32, and Tallulah, 29 have been supporting him nonstop. According to a source, “Bruce has good days and bad days, but there are a lot more bad days than good ones in the last two months.” The family has become even closer as a result of this event. Since nobody knows how much longer Bruce has to live, they are savoring every second they have with him.
